The sixth edition of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment comes to Toledo

by

From 21 to 24 June, the Spanish city will be the hub for this international event, dedicated to Spanish-language fiction and entertainment television content

The sixth edition of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment comes to Toledo
Series Santa Evita, which is set for its European premiere at the event

The sixth Conecta Fiction & Entertainment will be held at the Palacio de Congresos El Greco in Toledo (Castilla-La Mancha) from 21 to 24 June and is the first to be dedicated to other non-fiction audiovisual genres. Geraldine Gonard, its director, said that this event " has been an innovative benchmark, and we want to continue to be so. That's why we are extending the concept and the Conecta brand, which is now called Conecta Fiction & Entertainment. It will be an international event focusing on fiction and entertainment television content. This decision to open up the spectrum has been very carefully considered and is the result of many hours studying trends; consumption of fiction content is still very high, but there are other formats, other high demand screens and other audiences on which we must focus as an industry and, as organisers, we must respond to this forecast and position ourselves, as we have always tried to do, innovating and offering the best business and networking platform to our participants".

Therefore, through its programme, Conecta Fiction & Entertainment faces its sixth edition as a key meeting point for the television production industry on both sides of the Atlantic, while reinforcing its positive impact on Toledo, offering all participants a wide range of activities in various locations around the city and its surroundings, which will enhance the value of this historic town as a great audiovisual stage.

Its Country Focus section will feature the host country, due to its government's boost and support for the audiovisual industry through the “Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe” plan (“Spain AVS Hub” Plan), one of the pillars of the Digital Spain 2025 agenda, which aims to turn the country into the main audiovisual hub in Europe by boosting national audiovisual production and attracting investment and economic activity, strengthening companies in the sector by improving their competitiveness through digitalisation and supporting talent (read more).

This new edition will also offer activities aimed at international professionals visiting Toledo during these days with panels, pitching sessions (for series projects, miniseries and other television formats - read more), talks, street meetings to get to know the city and keynotes that will take place throughout the week to understand the current situation of the fiction and entertainment industry for television.

Among its many activities, The Walt Disney Company Latin America will present here, for the first time in Europe, Santa Evita, a fiction film executive produced by Salma Hayek, which will soon be available on Disney's global streaming services. Based on the bestseller of the same name by Argentinean writer Tomás Eloy Martínez, the series follows the story of the embalmed body of the legendary Argentinean first lady Eva Perón. Its cast, headed by Natalia Oreiro, Ernesto Alterio, Francesc Orella and Darío Grandinetti, as well as its directors (Rodrigo García and Alejandro Mací) and the executives who led its production will talk about its creation process and will share, in an exclusive screening for those attending, the first of its seven episodes. And British writer and producer Ben Harris will also share the stage with Spanish filmmaker Paco Cabezas.
