With only eight days to go until the official selection is revealed for the 71st Cannes Film Festival (running 8 to 19 May 2018), the identity of this year’s President of the Un Certain Regard jury has been unveiled to be none other than the Spanish-American actor (born in Puerto Rico), Benicio del Toro.

Clinching the award for Best Actor in Cannes back in 2008 for his portrayal of Che Guevara in the two-part Steven Soderbergh biopic (Che – Part 1: The Argentine [+see also:

), Benicio del Toro had previously taken home a Best Supporting Actor Oscar and Golden Globe in 2001, for Traffic (which also secured him a Silver Bear in Berlin). He was also nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in 2004 for 21 Grams, as well as winning great acclaim for his parts in The Usual Suspects, Basquiat, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sin City, The Pledge, Jimmy P. [+see also:
