), which introduces us to César, a big shot who everyone hates; some sing his praises, but no one tells him the truth. He’s a great, successful businessman balanced on a knife-edge, the boss of a successful company worth many millions of euros. He’s one of those executives who believe they can do no wrong, but he’s most likely about to be reported for workplace harassment and has one or two vices. But he’s about to get the shock of his life – and to make matters worse, on a Monday.

His wife throws him out, his partners betray him, his shares plummet and the tax office finds a gaping hole in the company accounts. And he will have only one week to come up with a solution. Holed up in his office, he works around the clock to get his company and his life back on track. But he won’t be able to do it alone: in Ariana, the cleaning lady who works the night shift, César will find an unexpected ally who, fortunately and quite accidentally, will interfere in his life.

“From the very first moment, I was drawn to the possibility of making a comedy for all audiences, but one with a lot of meaning, with a backstory and with the ability to communicate something. It’s a film that can entertain people and, at the same time, convey a message,” Carlo D’Ursi (Producer on the Move 2017 – read more), an actor and the producer of Jefe, told Cineuropa. The movie will hit Spanish screens on 4 May, distributed by Super8. It is a Potenza ProduccionesBowfinger International Pictures and Jefe La Película AIE production, in co-production with Portuguese outfit Fado Filmes, and it has benefited from support from the ICAA, the Ibermedia programme and the Community of Madrid.
