ECAM founds The Screen

by

- The Film School of the Community of Madrid is seeking to foster Spanish productions and up-and-coming talent, with an open call for the development of feature-length projects

ECAM founds The Screen

ECAM (the Film and Audiovisual School of the Community of Madrid) has created The Screen, an initiative intended to foster the production of feature films, thus supporting emerging talent and revitalising Spain’s audiovisual sector. It also aims to build a bridge with the film industry in the rest of Europe.

The Screen will host a batch of ground-breaking projects in Spain, some of which are aimed at the ECAM Community (the student body, alumni and teachers) while others are open to professionals from the entire sector. Such is the case for La Incubadora, a programme for developing film projects geared towards fledgling producers, directors and screenwriters who are resident in Spain, through mentoring, group and one-to-one consultations, workshops, and funding for five projects selected on account of their quality and international potential. Each of the selected titles will receive €10,000 in development support.

In addition, it can bank on the involvement of representatives of international funds and programmes such as MEDIAEurimages and Ibermedia; festivals like the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA); and international sales agents of the likes of Visit Films and Rise and Shine World Sales.

The deadline for presenting projects by first-time directors is 18 December 2017, at 11:59 pm. More information, such as the requirements to fulfil, can be found on The Screen’s website.
