Scripted by Pálmason, who describes the piece as ”a tale of a lack of love, an odyssey of brothers set in a working-class environment during a cold winter,” and co-produced by Anton Máni Svansson of Iceland’s Join Motion Pictures, Winter Brothers follows two brothers, their routines, habits, rituals and a violent feud that erupts between them and another family.

Danish actors Elliott Crosset Hove and Simon Sears star as the two brothers, with Peter Plaugborg, Michael Brostrup, Victoria Carmen Sonne and Lars Mikkelsen also starring in the feature, which was  mostly shot on 16mm in the Danish Faxe limestone quarry, with support from the Danish Film Institute and the Icelandic Film Centre.

Pálmason left the Danish Film School in 2013, and his graduation movie, A Painter – also starring Hove and Sears and produced by Waltersdorph Hansen – won Best Short in Odense-Denmark and Reykjavik-Iceland. His latest short, Seven Boats (2014), has toured 13 international festivals, including Toronto.
