When in 2013 Danish author-cartoonist Jakob Martin Strid published The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear [+see also:

, it came out in eight languages – a record for a Danish children's book – and when the film adaptation is launched on 12 October, it will have already been sold to more than 30 countries.

Well known for the We Hate Everything! and Strid cartoons, the award-winning writer-artist begins his bestselling adventure in the small port city of Solby, where the mayor, JB, has disappeared, and his successor Kvist is planning an end to peace and idyll. Among the inhabitants of Solby is Sebastian the elephant and his friend, Mitcho the cat; they come across a message in a bottle, in which JB writes that he is stranded on a mysterious island and encloses a little seed that, during the night, grows into a giant pear.

In Bo Hr HansenPhilip Einstein Lipski and Amalie Næsby Fick's screenplay for the 3D animated feature, Sebastian and Mitcho make it onto a ship and set off to find him on the island, where they will meet cruel pirates and demagogic politicians. 

Philip Einstein Lipski, Amalie Næsby Fick and Jørgen Lerdam have directed the film, which is being staged by Danish major Nordisk Film ProductionEinstein Film (2011’s Ronal the Barbarian [+see also:

In collaboration with Danish pubcaster DRThomas Heinesen and Trine Heidegaard have produced the adventure, which Danish international sales boutique LevelK has licensed to France, Hungary, Canada and South Korea, among others.
