Written by the director, the story revolves around the character of Franck, who has worked as a henchman for a small-town football club for the last ten years. He makes a living off dodgy deals during the day and keeping an eye on the players at night, but one day he meets Salomé, a former mistress who has been given the boot by one of the team’s strikers, and they become lovers. Djibril Azembert, one of French football’s fallen stars, then comes to cap off his career at the club, and Salomé, Franck and Djibril soon start to engage in a curious kind of affectionate banter.

Produced by Hugues Charbonneau and Marie-Ange Luciani for Les Films de PierreOn The Sly has been pre-purchased by Canal+, and has support in the form of the CNC’s advance on receipts and backing from the Pays de la Loire region.
