The “Mix” programme is open to industry professionals and will be held in English. This event features pitches of feature films developed under a special initiative for promoting joint creations by Jewish and Arab filmmakers. An international jury will select the winners of the GMFF production grant worth 250,000 NIS (approximately €59,390), and the Levin Family grant worth 40,000 NIS (approximately €9,500).

British director Martha Fiennes will present her new cutting-edge artistic project, Nativity, which tries to push the boundaries of art by merging film, visual arts and technology. She will present a masterclass on this unique artistic endeavour. Also taking place is the DocVR event, as part of which eight virtual reality shorts (both fiction and documentary) using 360 degree technology, which was developed by the Tisch and Sam Spiegel film school at Tel Aviv University, will be presented. The second Students Pitching Short Narrative Film will be held and feature student presentations for various awards. This is an initiative of the Gesher Multicultural Film Fund in collaboration with The Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts and the New Fund for Cinema and Television. Creators and actors will also have a chance to discuss the contemporary family hero, visual language and the evolution of a storyline from season to season in the third Haifa TV-Series Meeting.

The Haifa International Film Festival will also hold a training workshop focusing on participants’ creative preparation. The event will include a masterclass led by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, the award-winning, critically acclaimed Iranian film director, writer, film editor, and producer, and János Szász, the Hungarian film director, screenwriter and theatre director. This will be followed by a pitch seminar with producer and editor Gary Cranner.
