Eric Styles begins That Good Night

Eric Styles has commenced a five-week shoot on the Algarve coastline of Portugal on That Good Night, an adaptation of the 1996 play of the same name by NJ Crisp. That Good Night, which derives its name from a well-known Dylan Thomas poem, follows Ralph, a famed screenwriter coming to terms with his impending death. As he does so, he resolves to attempt two final missions in life; to be reconciled to his long-lost son and to ensure he doesn’t become a burden to his wife Anna. Charles Savage (The Apple Tree) adapted the play for the screen. The cast includes British veteran John Hurt (seen recently in Only Lovers Left Alive [+see also:

British filmmaker Styles, a graduate of the UK National Film and Television School, made his feature debut with Dreaming of Joseph Lees in 1999 and the film was nominated for the Grand Prix des Ameriques at the Montreal World Film Festival and for the Emden Film Award at the Emden Film Festival. His other credits include Relative Values, Tempo, True True Lie, Miss Conception and Legendary [+see also:

will be his seventh feature.

The film is being produced by the UK’s GSP Studios, already behind Bliss! (read more) and Await Further Instructions (read more), among others. GSP’s Alan Latham, also the producer of the original play, will produce alongside Savage. GSP Studios International is also handling worldwide sales. Financing is from GSP Studios, Red Rock Entertainment and Goldfinch Entertainment. Executive producers include Paul Ward, Julian Hicks and Gary Collins
