The script, written by Eric Barbier and Marie Eynard, follows the novel’s storyline, in which Romain Gary recounts his childhood in Poland, his adolescence in Nice, his student life in Paris, his tough aviation apprenticeship, and his wartime stories from France, England and Africa. A novel whose main theme is motherly love, featuring a young protagonist who exiles himself in France with his mother, a former actress who raises him by herself, sacrificing everything for her son, for whom she has immense ambitions…

Produced for Jerico by Eric Jehelmann and Philippe Rousselet, Promise at Dawn is a co-production with Pathé (which will be looking after the film’s distribution in France and its international sales), TF1 Films Production and the Belgian outfit Nexus Factory. Already bought by Canal+ and OCS, the feature will be shot in Hungary, Italy, Belgium and Morocco, with Belgium’s Glynn Speeckaert (recently nominated for the 2016 César Award in his field for his work on the film Marguerite [+see also:

This comedy focuses on an incredibly stingy violinist who lives by himself, whose daughter suddenly appears in his life, believing him to be thrifty for charitable and environmental reasons. Radin, distributed by Mars Distribution, will hit French cinemas on 28 September 2016.

As a reminder, Philippe Rousselet is currently also very active in the field of production as part of another company: Vendôme Production (read the article).
