El bar is a thriller that will hinge on the sense of claustrophobia created when the motley and treacherous customers of a café in the centre of Madrid – as they are simply having breakfast, like they do each morning – bear witness to an astonishing incident that will determine the course of the subsequent few hours: one of them is shot in the head as they rush out of the door in a hurry. Not one of those present will dare to go to their aid… nor leave the bar.

El bar, which is being made in collaboration with Atresmedia Cine, is a Pokeepsie Films (the outfit owned by husband and wife Carolina Bang and Álex de la Iglesia) and Nadie es Perfecto production: both companies are also working on Eduardo Casanova’s directorial debut (read more) and the second feature by Zoe Berriatúa, En las estrellas [+see also:
