The LUX Film Days are back

- The 3 films in competition for the Lux Prize 2013 will be shown in Brussels’ Bozar on November 7 and 13, while travelling to other European cities

The LUX Film Days are back

The films in competition for the Lux Prize 2013 will be presented for the second year during the LUX FILM DAYS, which will take them across 43 cities of the European Union. Their first stops are in Cork on 18 October, followed by the Zagreb Film Festival and Lithuania, and all the other European countries. In Brussels, they will be screened on November 7 and 13, in partnership with Bozar Cinéma.

The 3 finalists have been announced during the last edition of the Venice Days, at the Venice Film Festival, after being selected out of 10 films:

, directed by Flemish filmmaker Felix van Groeningen (watch the video interview done during Venice Days) - the heartbreaking melodrama of Elise and Didier, their love story, tragedy and struggle to cope with it. 

The film was presented at the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Label Europa Cinemas Award and the Audience Award. Now, after winning Best Screenplay and Best Actress at the Tribeca Film Festival, the feature will represent Belgium on the road to the foreign-language Oscar.

, directed by Italian actress-turned-director Valeria Golino (watch the video interview done during Venice Days) - the morally and emotional challenging story of Irene, a young lady that helps terminally-ill people to die.

The film was presented in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, and has won several awards in Italy, such as two Golden Globes and three prizes from the Italian Syndicate of Film Journalists.

, directed by British director Clio Barnard (watch the video interview done during Venice Days) - the rich fable of Arbor and Swifty, two boys, outsiders in their own community, that get familiar with a tricky old man, business, greed and exploitation.

The film was also presented at Cannes, within the Directors’ Fortnight, where it received the Label Europa Cinemas award, and took off to become a sensation at this year’s festivals.
