) wrapped her new feature film Später im Sommer, which was secretly filmed on location in the region of Mazar-e-Sharif and Kunduz in Afghanistan. The story centres on the friendship between a German soldier and an Afghan translator who are fighting side by side in Afghanistan. Both of them are trying not to lose their faith in the good of humanity, and are risking their lives.

For the leading part Aladag engaged Ronald Zehrfeld who has been internationally recognized as the co-star of Nina Hoss in the East-German drama Barbara [+see also:

by Christian Petzold. The further cast of Später im Sommer includes Felix Kramer, Roman Rien, Pit Bukowski, Tobais Schönenberg and Burghart Klaussner (The White Ribbon), who has a special appearance in the film. All the Afgan parts are played by amateur actors such as Mohamad Mohsen, Saida Barmaki and Salam Yosofzai from the region around Massar-e-Sharif, which gives Später im Sommer a particular authenticity.

Behind the camera, Aladag hired a mainly female crew with award-winning director of photography Judith Kaufmann (Four Minutes [+see also:

). The production received military and logistical consulting by the German armed forces while Afghan expert Matthias Kock and security expert Martin Lang acted as advisers on the set. The film was shot in German, Pashto, Dari and English.

Später im Sommer is produced by Aladags company Independent Artists Filmproduktion in co-production with ZDF, ARTE as well as the Geissendörfer Film- und Fernsehproduktion. The production received financial backing by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Nordmedia, the German Federal Film Board and the German Federal Film Fund. The drama will be distributed in spring 2014 by Majestic Filmverleih who also released Aladags first feature When We Leave in Germany.
