Sony back in Bond business
Sony Pictures Entertainment has reached an agreement with MGM to co-finance and theatrically market and distribute the next film in the iconic James Bond franchise that has a working title of Bond 23.
Sony will release the film on November 9, 2012 throughout the world except for a few international territories, where MGM will directly oversee distribution. Sony and MGM will co-finance and distribute Bond 24 on a similar basis and have also agreed to explore co-financing deals on future films for the next five years.
Sony Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton said, “While we are excited to be back in the Bond business, we also look forward to future collaborations and I am confident that this agreement will be long-term, lucrative, and beneficial to both studios. In addition to working together on Bond, this deal expands our relationship with MGM as we explore co-financing opportunities on other high-profile projects.”
