Vienna-based sales company EastWest Film Distribution is screening five European titles at the Cannes Market (May 13-22), three of which are Swedish productions.

Both the family adventure film Wolf [+see also:

“It’s not a calculated choice to focus on Swedish films, but we happened to discover these films by chance, almost at the same time, and they corresponded to what we are looking for at the moment: high quality films that possess strong audience appeal,” said sales executive Olivier van Bockstael.

“For instance, we acquired Håkon Liu’s directorial debut Miss Kicki after the film received the Special Jury Award at the latest Pusan Film Festival. Since then, we've worked on a new cut. We were absolutely excited by the beautiful character played by Pernilla August, a mother trying to get reacquainted with her teenage son during a trip to Taipei. Female audiences around the world should fall under the charm of this touching story.”

Miss Kicki is produced by Lizette Jonjic, Sweden’s Producer on the Move 2010.

The other EastWest Distribution titles screening in Cannes are Marvin Kren’s German zombie movie Rammbock and French film A Real Life [+see also:
