EastWest announces sales following EFM

Vienna-based EastWest Filmdistribution has announced a series of sales that have been clinched following the EFM in Berlin, starting with Peter Kern’s local production Initiation [+see also:

This film, which stars cult actor Helmut Berger and draws a clever parallel between a Neo-Nazi group and a gay community, has been sold for Germany, Switzerland, Benelux, Bulgaria and Latvia. Negotiations are also underway with France, ltaly, Poland and the United States.

, which stars Peter Stormare and was presented at the market, has been bought for Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Benelux, Bulgaria, Romania and Latvia. Further sales are about to be finalised with the United States, France, Spain, Italy, Korea and Japan.

At the EFM, EastWest also presented actor Guillaume Depardieu’s last two films. Sarah Leonor’s A Real Life [+see also:

, which is a tale of unexpected love between a teacher and a petty thief, continues its festival rounds after its competition screening at Locarno (the title will soon be presented at Sofia, Brussels and Lisbon). It has been bought by eight territories, including all German-speaking countries.

Alexandre Iordachescu’s French/Swiss/Romanian co-production The Way Beyond [+see also:

, which also stars Alysson Paradis, has been sold for German-speaking territories, Romania, Latvia and Bulgaria. The film will be released in France next autumn.

EastWest has also sold Klaus Hundsbichler’s musical documentary WorldRevolution, about cult Austrian singer Stefan Weber, to Canadian company Guerrilla Releasing.
