Copenhagen tunes in to 12:08 East of Bucharest

The fourth Copenhagen International Film Festival closed last Sunday with the jury handing over two of its Golden Swans, for Best Film and Best Screenplay, to Corneliu Porumboiou’s 12:08 East of Bucharest [+see also:

. The Rumanian film already won the Camera d’Or and Europa Cinemas label awards in Cannes last May.

Other top winners in Copenhagen include the Italian film Along the Ridge [+see also:

, for which Kim Rossi Stuart was voted Best Director and Stefano Falivene Best Cinematographer.

, a hit with critics and audiences alike, by first-time filmmaker Florian von Donnersmarck, won the Best Actor (Ulrich Mühe) and Audience Awards. Another German film, Happy As One by Vanessa Jopp, won the Best Actress Award (Heidrun Bartholomäus).

The jury, presided by Danish actress Ghita Norby, included filmmakers Pawel Pawlikowski from the UK, Hungary’s Kornel Mundruczó, Dutch cinematographer Robby Müller and Swedish actress Tuva Novotny, who replaced Greta Scacchi.
