The list of winners of the 8th edition of the Ibiza International Independent Film Festival - Ibizacinefest, a qualifying event for the Goya Awards 2024 for short films, awarded this weekend the prizes for Best National Short Film to Lavadoiro, directed by Lois Patiño and Ana Amado, and  Best International Short Film to the Brazilian As Miçangas, by Rafaela Camelo and Emanuel Lavor.

Lavadoiro is based on a performance by the Galician architect and photographer Ana Amado, who proposes an active and multidisciplinary reflection, from the ephemeral architecture, based on the public washing places, collected by Patiño. Whereas, As Miçangas tells the story of two sisters preparing for an abortion in a house surrounded by nature.

The jury of the National Short Film section, made up of Pilar Toro, Director of Marketing and Communication at Filmin, and directors Alba Esquinas and Enrique Buleo, decided to award special mentions to La Panadella, by Joel Jiménez, and La noche eterna, by actor Eneko Sagardoy (Giant [+leggi anche:

). And the jury of the International Short Film competition, formed by Monica Timperi, director and programmer of Formentera Film, and the director Natxo Leuza, also awarded special mentions to the Polish film Hi, Grandpa, by Aleksander Pakulski, and the French film A Shop Trip, by Erenik Beqiri.

The Fem-Cine section prize, awarded by Montse Clos, María Belén Jiménez, Lourdes Acuña and Julia Salinas, responsible for the Affirming Women's Rights and the Women on Stage sections at the Malaga Festival, went to La mujer ilustrada, a documentary and animated short film by Isabel Herguera, with a special mention going to Amb la boca petita, by Mór G. Dulcet.

The jury that awards the Blogos de Oro critics’ choice awards to feature films has chosen Goodbye Julia [+leggi anche:

, Mohamed Kordofani’s debut feature film. It is the first production from Sudan to participate in the official section at Cannes, and also received the #ConUnPack award for distribution. And as Best Documentary, An Inhabited Volcano [+leggi anche:

, a film by David Pantaleón and José Víctor Fuentes that reflects the impact on the population of the eruption of the volcano on the island of La Palma.

The AC Ibizacinefest Special Prize, awarded by the Ibizacinefest Cultural Association, went to the poetic documentary Vista Mare [+leggi anche:

, a co-production between Austria and Italy by Julia Gutweniger and Florian Kofler, filmed in the coastal resorts of the Adriatic.

The Road To Fest award for Short Film Distribution went to the Spanish short Crías, by Aitor Urbaneja and Jiajie Yu Yan. The latter filmmaker has also been awarded the screenplay competition prize for his project Xiao Wei, which will receive 1,000 euros.
