Written by Alanté Kavaïté (who notably co-penned Evolution [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), the story takes us to an island with no future, given that it’s already partly submerged underwater. A woman is caring for ten or so very elderly individuals, but the arrival of five travellers turns their lives upside down…

Submergée is produced by Les Films D’Antoine (the filmmaker’s faithful accomplice) together with Estrella Productions, in co-production with Finish Impact Film Fund, Kallouche Cinéma and Wild Bunch (who will be handling distribution in French cinemas). Pre-purchased by OCS and Ciné+, the feature film also enjoys support from the Sofica Cinéaxe, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and the department of Charente-Maritime, where filming (which is now at the halfway point) will continue throughout November, with Chilean-Danish cinematographer Manuel Alberto Claro (the recipient of various awards, especially for Melancholia [+leggi anche:
