, and for the Best Screenplay César award in 2008 for Two Days in Paris), Matthieu Rumani and Nicolas Slomka in collaboration with Elsa Domenach, the script is set at the heart of a small village in Brittany, whose municipality has decided to welcome a family of Ukrainian refugees. Except that the refugees who arrive aren’t Ukrainian, but Syrian… 

Produced by Michaël Gentile for The Film, Les barbares has been pre-bought by Canal+ and Disney+. The feature film is also supported by the La Banque Postale Image, Cinécap, Cineventure, Indéfilms, Cofimage and Cofinova Soficas. Filming is taking place entirely in Brittany, with George Lechaptois as director of photography. Distribution in French cinemas will be handled by Le Pacte and international sales by Charades.
