This high-octane story written by Gemma Ventura (the director and screenwriter of Expect a Miracle) takes in locations such as the Ciudad Real International Airport, Madrid’s Gran Vía – one of the main (and most commercial) thoroughfares in the Spanish capital, which was closed off to traffic and vacated for the occasion – the Paseo de la Castellana, the Paseo de Recoletos and the Glass Gallery in Madrid’s CentroCentro, where some spectacular action sequences were filmed with the help of the Civil Guard, and the GRS, Traffic and TEDAX bomb-disposal units.

The plot tells of how, after an attack, Santi (played by Tosar, who previously worked with the filmmaker on the features Sky High [+leggi anche:

) is taken hostage by Hamza, the last surviving terrorist (Batán). An unexpected twist of fate causes them to switch roles, and the man becomes a human bomb striding along Madrid’s Gran Vía, wearing a vest laden with explosives. The intelligence and emergency services, and even the media, will join forces to save his life in an unbelievable turn of events with unforeseen consequences.

In Calparsoro’s own words, his latest feature is “a thriller set against a political and social backdrop where the characters come to the fore in a powerful and human way, showing both their dramatic side and their sense of responsibility. It’s a story of people living on the edge, people who have already seen and done it all, and who once again have to get a grip on their boldness and their sense of risk-taking in order to soldier on."

The film is being produced by Todos los Nombres de Dios AIE, Tripictures, Second Gen Pictures, Wanda Visión and Fasten Films, with the involvement of RTVE, Prime Video and Telemadrid, funding from the ICAA and backing from Madrid Film Office. The movie will hit Spanish screens in 2023, distributed by Tripictures. After its run in theatres, the flick will be available on the Prime Video platform. Madrid-based sales agent Latido Films is in charge of its international sales.
