Forever hot on the heels of potential talent in the making, the French branch of Playtime – the international sales company – will be hedging its bets at the Film Market at the 71st Cannes Film Festival (from 8 to 19 May) on two debut French feature films that captured the interest of those making the selections on the Croisette.

 by Vanessa Filho will make its world premiere in official selection in the Un Certain Regard section, starring Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard in the role of an unworthy mother.

 by Marie Monge, which is due to be unveiled at the Directors' Fortnight, is also attracting buyers thanks to its cast (Tahar Rahim and Stacy Martin) and the film’s genre, which is purported to be somewhat detective in nature.

Freshly added to the line-up is the thriller Who Do You Think I Am by Safy Nebbou, which has just finished shooting (see the article – starring Juliette BinocheFrançois CivilNicole GarciaCharles Berling and Guillaume Gouix).
