Joy of Learning by Jean-Luc Godard (50 years after its production in 1968) will be opening the 13th edition of L'Europe autour de l'Europe festival tomorrow, which will take place from 14 March to 1 April in Paris and Ile-de-France. 

Nine feature films that have yet to be released in France will be battling it out for the 2018 Sauvage Prize, awarded by a jury chaired by the Bulgarian filmmaker Ralitza Petrova. Among them, five films directed by women stand out: Wild Roses [+leggi anche:

Amongst other events, Irena Bilić will be hosting a focus on Baltic countries, with films by the Lithuanian director Sharunas Bartas and documentaries by his compatriots Audrius Stoneys and Arūnas Matelis, as well as films by the Latvian  director Viesturs Kairišs and the Estonian director Jaak Kilmi. A tribute to the Estonian producer Katrin Kissa (Homeless Bob Production) is also on the menu.

The festival's very rich program also includes a tribute to the French actor Jean-Pierre Léaud, to the Spanish filmmaker Albert Serra and "to the maestros" Miklós Jancsó, Manoel de Oliveira and Zoltán Fábri. Also noteworthy is a dive into the classics with "A decade of German cinema, 1920-1930" at The Seydoux-Pathé Foundation, the themed “Frontières" program, a new section called La Sélection Française (including Barbara [+leggi anche:
