Building upon the partnership established in 2022, Tatino Films is poised to embark on another collaborative venture with Netflix, aimed at bolstering support for writers through an array of innovative programmes. Recently, Tatino Films finalised an agreement with the streamer, solidifying its position as one of its global creative allies.

This signifies that Tatino Films will unveil a series of initiatives starting this year to provide comprehensive support to writers worldwide who are engaged in crafting future content for Netflix. These programmes are set to unfold across various regions, both in Europe and globally, empowering talented writers to bring their visions to life. Specifically, European film talents hailing from France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Poland will benefit from these endeavours. Additionally, writers from Brazil, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Turkey will also have the opportunity to participate in these enriching programmes, further enhancing the diversity and global reach of creative voices in the entertainment industry.

Each programme is meticulously crafted to provide tailored support to small groups of writers as they refine their projects through mentoring and consultation. The initiatives will enlist the expertise of a diverse array of well-known film professionals from across the globe, including: Aurelio Aragão, Rania Attieh, Philippe Barrière, Didar Domehri, Giacomo Durzi, Luke Franklin, Cédric Ido, Izabela Igel, Filip Kasperaszek, Mmabatho Kau, Britta Krause, Naomi Levari, Julien Lilti, Sarah Linton, Łukasz M Maciejewski, Marcelo Martinessi, Ben Morris, Franziska Müller, Laura Piani, Ludovica Rampoldi, Davide Serino and Cyril Tisz.

Matthieu Darras, CEO of Tatino Films, commented on the partnership: “We are humbled that Tatino Films’ know-how in nurturing film talents and projects, constantly striving to enhance their creative visions, is recognised by Netflix. We are very proud as well for Tatino Films to become one of the global creative partners of Netflix’s talent development initiatives in 2024, together with such a prestigious institution as the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

"I believe that there’s something unique in our approach to how we foster creative frameworks that are both safe and challenging while embracing diversity wholeheartedly. I take pride in the fact that our team and our mentors truly have such a wide scope of backgrounds and expertise, setting the conditions for storytelling breakthroughs, and reflecting the diverse audiences internationally as well.

"We will do our best to support the talented scriptwriters participating in the programmes, and the wonderful Netflix teams active all over the world, in shaping up the vibrant Netflix fiction films and shows of tomorrow.”

Chris Mack, Director Talent Development at Netflix, added: “Netflix is deeply committed to creative communities around the world and to nurturing the next generation of storytellers. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Tatino Films on these bespoke programmes that will support and champion strong emerging talent.”

The initial workshop took place in Amsterdam last March, launching this initiative. A workshop is also ongoing in Jakarta. More are planned for May and June in various locations including France, Italy, and the Netherlands. Paris will host the first of these workshops on 27 May, offering an opportunity for an enriching exchange of ideas and insights as the collaboration progresses.
