Adapted by the director together with Agnès Feuvre (awarded the 2022 César for Best Original Screenplay via The Divide) and Raphaële Moussafir (the filmmaker’s usual partner in crime) from Alice Ferney’s novel L’Intimité, the story revolves around Sandra, a fiercely independent fifty-year-old who suddenly and unwillingly finds herself sharing space with her neighbour and his two children. Against all odds, she slowly grows attached to this adoptive family. But who is she in their eyes? And what are they to her?

L’Attachement is produced by Antoine Rein and Fabrice Goldstein on behalf of Karé Productions, in co-production with France 2 Cinéma and Belgian firm Umedia. Pre-purchased by Canal+, Canal+ Thématique and France Télévisions, the feature film also enjoys support from the Brittany region, as well as from the SOFICA companies La Banque Postale Image, Cofimage, Indéfilm, Cinéaxe, SG Image and Cinécapital. The eight-week film shoot will take place in Rennes and the surrounding area, split across two different time periods (from 27 June to 4 August and from 25 October to 28 November), with Elin Kirschfink heading up photography. Distribution in French cinemas is entrusted to Diaphana while international sales are steered by Orange Studio.
