Sand and Blood

Sand und Blut shows the recent history of Iraq and Syria – from the perspective of those who came to Europe in the past few years. Be it the conquest of their own village by the troops of the Syrian regime, the crimes perpetrated by the various rebel groups or the destruction of their own parents’ home, war refugees can watch all these tragedies on videos broadcast on the internet. The film exclusively consists of these videos filmed by activists, combatants and civilians. The protagonists comment the footage and speak openly about their experiences. A collage that does not claim to show a complete picture but portrays the war, instead, from an entirely personal point of view.
