Jeff is invited by his friend Max to travel deep in the woods and stay at the isolated estate of acclaimed director Blake Cadieux. He has high expectations for the trip: Cadieux is an artist he greatly admires – plus Aliocha, Max’s older sister, with whom he is secretly in love, is also coming. The untouched and hostile forest and the director’s huge cabin become the territory where the youthful search for ideals and freedom confronts the wounded egos of the adults.

The filmmaker returns after the successes of his previous films, which include The Demons, which world-premiered in competition at the 2015 San Sebastián International Film Festival, and Genesis, which world-premiered in competition at the 2018 Locarno Film Festival and went on to win awards such as the Golden Spike for Best Film and the Silver Spike for Best Director at Valladolid's Seminci.

Who by Fire is produced by Galilé Marion-Gauvin for Canada's Unité Centrale, with co-production by France's Shellac Sud. Belgium's Be for Films is handling international sales.
