Mihalkovich and Badziaka bring the frontline home when they expose the consequences of staying silent in the face of a tide of autocratic violence within the military system that is bleeding over on to the streets of Belarus. A journalist and former military conscript join forces to expose both the personal and the global consequences of autocratic and institutional violence when it is used as a societal tool of suppression. Motherland is a co-production by Sweden's Sisyfos Film Production, Norway's Folk Film and Ukraine's Voka Films. Lightdox has the international rights.
