, a film best described as a psychological drama. It sees her collaborating once again with Danish star Trine Dyrholm, who won the Best Actress award at both the Bodil and the Robert Awards for the previous film they made together, and who now plays the lead role in this story exploring the limits of desire and the destructive power of lies.

Dyrholm is Anne, a successful and uncompromising lawyer who rules over her professional and private life in near- authoritarian style. She is happily married to Peter (Magnus Krepper), a doctor with whom she has two daughters, but when Anne loses control and seduces Peter’s 17-year-old son from a previous relationship, Gustav (Gustav Lindh), her world slowly begins to unravel.

With a script co-written by El-Toukhy and Maren Louise Käehne, who also co-wrote Long Story Short, for which the duo received the Best Script Bodil, it is down to Dyrholm to bring this controversial character to life, to portray the critical decisions Anne must make and the fatal consequences these might entail. Joining her in the cast and also taking lead roles alongside Swedish actors Magnus Krepper and Gustav Lindh, are Preben Kristensen, Mads Wille and Stine Gyldenkerne.

Queen of Hearts is co-produced by Caroline Blanco and René Ezra for Nordisk Film Denmark with Nordisk Film Sweden, the support of the Danish Film Institute, the Swedish Film Institute, national broadcasters DR and SVT, and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Nordisk Film Distribution will release the film locally with its premiere due to take place on 28 March 2019, as part of the Biografklub Danmark.
