In the screenplay, which was adapted from Leïla Slimani’s novel of the same name (winner of the Prix Goncourt in 2016) by the director and Jérémie Elkaïm, Myriam, the mother of two young children, decides to go back to work at a law firm despite her husband's reservations, and the couple sets about looking for a nanny. After a string of thorough and demanding interviews, they hire Louise, who very quickly wins the children’s affection and gradually starts to occupy a key place in the family home. Little by little, they fall into the trap of mutual dependence, until tragedy strikes…

Produced by Pascal Caucheteux and Grégoire Sorlat for Why Not Productions, and by Philippe Godeau and Nathalie Gastaldo Godeau for Pan-EuropéennePerfect Nanny is being co-produced by France 3 Cinéma. Having also been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, and secured backing from the Cinémage Sofica, the feature is being shot in Paris over a nine-week period. The French distribution and international sales details will be announced at a later date.
