European film students to meet at the Visegrad Film Forum

The international educational and networking platform Visegrad Film Forum will be held for the seventh time on the grounds of the Slovakian Faculty of Film and Television VŠMU in Bratislava. The event styles itself as a meeting ground for up-and-coming filmmakers and future film professionals hailing from film schools in Central Europe and beyond. The event aims to “set up a platform for collaborations between young filmmakers and will support mutual dialogue”.

The seventh iteration will welcome a host of accomplished film professionals, who will speak about their experiences during master classes. Three Colours: Blue, directed by Krzystof Kieślovski, will be introduced by its DoP, Slawomir Idziak, who will talk about transforming a literary script into film form and his experience of working in Hollywood. British editor Mick Audsley will give a lecture on how a film is constructed in the editing room, “The Hidden Power of Movie Material”, and will present a case study on Twelve Monkeys. Icelandic art director Eggert Ketilsson will unveil details about his work with Christopher Nolan, on movies such as Dunkirk [+see also:

. Composer Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz will host a workshop about shaping the mood of a film scene, while Marcel Lozinski will welcome visitors to a workshop focusing on “Discovering the Magic of Reality”. Emerging French filmmaker Joan Chemla will disclose how she crafted her feature debut, If You Saw His Heart [+see also:

As usual, the Visegrad Film Forum will screen student films from European schools and will also support further networking by pairing students from the Visegrad Group region with those from other countries, while the young attendees will discuss the origins of their works in the following blocks: FAMU Prague (Czech Republic) & UL AGRFT Ljubljana (Slovenia), SZFE Budapest (Hungary) & OAMK Oulu (Finland), WRiTv Katowice (Poland) & LMTA Vilnius (Latvia), and FTF VŠMU Bratislava (Slovakia) & ASU Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The seventh edition of the Visegrad Film Forum runs from 17-21 April in Bratislava, Slovakia.
