, will kick off in Budapest on 17 July. Trained at the London Film School, causing a stir with her short films, such as Cold Shower (in competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2011) and Roundabout (which won at Sarajevo in 2012), selected for the Berlinale Talents, and having already helmed several TV series (in particular the HBO Hungary version of In Treatment), the filmmaker is now trying her hand at a sexual dramedy about the impossibility of monogamy, its alternatives – and the impossibility of those as well. The cast includes Csilla RadnaiLehel Kovács (gracing screens recently in Kincsem – Bet on Revenge [+see also:

Written by the director, the story revolves around a thirty-something couple who decide to save their loving but sexually deflated relationship by simply opening it. They hope to escape the seemingly inevitable cheatings and betrayals that everyone else around them struggles with. However, this proves to be far more difficult and painful than imagined: they aren’t prepared for either the physical or the emotional ramifications of the new opportunities. The film tries to depict the challenges of 21st-century relationships and sexuality from a strong female point of view, dealing with gender roles and false expectations with quirky humour and honesty.

The movie is being produced by Gábor Kálomista and Dorottya Helmeczy for Megafilm (which will also head up the distribution in Hungarian cinemas and will share the international sales with the team at the Hungarian National Film Fund). The 32-day shoot (which will take place entirely in Budapest, with Máté Herbai serving as DoP) will wrap on 31 August.
