film profile] (racking up 150,000 admissions), Marmalade Films is doing it all over again with Allemaal Familie, Dries Vos’ first feature film. While Wat Mannen Willen (an adaptation of the successful Dutch film Mannenharten [+see also:

film profile], the theme of which is rather reminiscent of Marc Esposito’s successful series of French films French Men) was largely based on the romantic hardships of a group of friends, Allemaal Familie is more “mixed”, and looks at the roles that love and romance play in family life. Throughout the film, we follow several members of the Roover family, during a pivotal moment in their romantic and family lives: having a baby or not, learning to love again after mourning, keeping desire burning, and so on. The film is, once again, an adaptation of a successful Dutch film, Alles is Familie [+see also:

Although it may be Dries Vos’ feature-film debut, Allemaal Familie is hardly the work of a beginner. He has, most notably, been working on the Flemish television scene, where he has been responsible for a number of successful series, and he also worked as an assistant director on Safety First [+see also:

film profile], a genuine surprise smash hit at the Belgian box office, with over 600,000 admissions. And rumour has it that he could even direct its sequel.

Allemaal Familie will be the second feature film produced by Yoshi Aesaert (of Marmalade), who has just been named Young Flemish Entrepreneur of the year. The film is being co-produced with the Netherlands’ Lion Films, with support from the VAF and Screen Flanders. Shooting, which began in mid-March, will take place until the start of May, and the film is slated for a theatrical release in early 2017.
