A rough outline of the script, which was written by Lucas Belvaux and Jérôme Leroy, was unveiled by the director in the daily newspaper La Voix du Nord: “It’s the story of a liberal nurse who finds herself as the Bloc’s number-one candidate in a fictional town’s upcoming local election. She doesn’t really have any conviction and lets herself get pushed around a little. This has an impact on her relationships with her family, friends and patients.” It must be said that the Bloc in question (which was the subject of Jérôme Leroy’s 2011 novel The Bloc) is a fictional far-right populist political party that is on the rise...

Produced by David Frenkel for Parisian company Synecdoche and by Patrick Quinet for Belgian outfit Artémis Productions, This Is Our Land will be co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and RTBF. With Canal+, Ciné+, Be tv and Voo having already purchased the film’s rights, it is also being supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Centre for Film and Audiovisual and by Pictanovo, amongst others. Filming will take place from May to June with Pierric Gantelmi d'Ille serving as the cinematographer. Le Pacte will be responsible for the film’s French distribution and international sales.
