Nanni’s Cuts

Nanni Moretti made the briefest of appearances on the Croisette today for the only screening of his short films entitled Il grido d’angoscia dell’uccello predatore - an out of competition event that’s a.k.a “The April Cuts”. The title refers to the outtakes the Rome-born actor and director presented to the Cannes audience when he gave last year’s Cinema Lesson. The film was screened the other day in Rome as part of the electoral campaign of provincial candidate Enrico Gasbarra. “April covered the period from Berlusconi’s 1994 general election victory to 1996 when the Italian Left was elected to govern Italy for the first and only time in history... unfortunately, the film is not history but reality,” said Moretti.
