Five French films hope for a place in the Oscars race
- Summertime, Dheepan, The Measure of a Man, Marguerite and Mustang are battling it out
The committee tasked with choosing the French representative in the race for the nominations for the Oscar for Best Foreign-language Film has unveiled a shortlist of five films. The identity of the successful candidate that will end up competing for the famous statuette (which will be handed out on 28 February 2016, following the final selection of the nominees on 14 January) will be revealed after a hearing session organised by the committee on 22 September, which will welcome the producers and international sales agents of the five features going through the second round of voting.

This year’s selection committee, chaired by Frédérique Bredin (president of the CNC), comprises Thierry Frémaux (General Delegate of the Cannes Festival), Jean-Paul Salomé (president of UniFrance), Serge Toubiana (president of the CNC’s advance on receipts), Alain Terzian (president of the César Academy) and three artists: Nathalie Baye, Mélanie Laurent and Michel Hazanavicius.
