Artistic Director of the Rome Film Festival, Marco Müller, today announced the first five English-language movies in the programme of the ninth edition, which will take place from 16 to 25 October at the Parco della Musica Auditorium in Rome. 

The Cinema Today section will host Time Out of Mind (with Richard Gere, Jena Malone – European Premiere), which marks the return behind the camera for Oren Moverman, Silver Bear for Best Screenplay (with Alessandro Camon) for his debut feature The Messenger.

The Gala section will present Trash by Stephen Daldry, the multi award-winning English filmmaker (Billy Elliot, The HoursThe Reader [+see also:

). With this dramatic thriller set in a Brazilian metropolis, Daldry brings to the big screen the eponymous novel by Andy Mulligan, adapted by Richard Curtis, the author of successful comedies such as Four Weddings and a FuneralNotting HillBridget Jones diary and Love Actually [+see also:

. The film stars Rooney Mara and Martin Sheen (International Premiere).

The German-British co-production Love, Rosie directed by German director and screenwriter Christian Ditter, with Lily Collins and Sam Claflin (International Premiere), together with Black and White by Mike Binder (with Kevin Costner, Gillian Jacobs, Jennifer Ehle, Octavia Spencer – European Premiere), presented in collaboration with the independent sidebar Alice nella città, will feature in the Genre World section.

Finally, Stonehearst Asylum by Brad Anderson, based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe, is a thriller set in a psychiatric hospital, with an exclusively English and Irish cast: Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, Michael Caine and Brendan Gleeson.
