film profile] by Laurent Tirard, distributed by Wild Bunch Distribution with a very high print run of 660 copies. Starring, among others, young actor Mathéo Boisselier, Valérie Lemercier, Kad Merad, Dominique Lavanant, François-Xavier Demaison, Belgium’s Bouli Lanners and François Damiens, and Italian actor Luca Zingaretti, the film is a new adaptation (by the same director-producer team) of the comic-book series by Goscinny and Sempé. The first instalment, Little Nicholas [+see also:

film profile], took 5.6 million admissions in France in 2009.

Produced for a budget of €24.48 million, including co-productions by M6 Films and Wild Bunch, as well as pre-purchases by Canal+, OCS and W9, Nicholas on Holiday was co-scripted by Laurent Tirard, Grégoire Vigneron and Jaco van Dormael. After a relatively cool reception from the press, the film will now attempt to draw in its target viewers: family audiences, which this type of French production hardly ever sets its sights on at this time of year. It should therefore be interesting to follow this particular gamble...

For its part, Gaumont is distributing 250 copies of the comedy A toute épreuve [+see also:
