Starring, among others, young actor Mathéo Boisselier, Valérie Lemercier, Kad Merad, Dominique Lavanant, François-Xavier Demaison, Belgium’s Bouli Lanners and François Damiens, and Italian actor Luca Zingaretti, the film is a new adaptation (by the same director-producer team) of the comic-book series by Goscinny and Sempé. Produced for a budget of €24.48 million, including co-productions by M6 Films and Wild Bunch, as well as pre-purchases by Canal+, OCS and W9, Nicholas on Holiday was co-scripted by Laurent Tirard, Grégoire Vigneron and Jaco van Dormael. After a relatively cool reception from the press, the film will now attempt to draw in its target viewers: family audiences, which this type of French production hardly ever sets its sights on at this time of year.
