The hive of activity seen at the first edition of the Paris Coproduction Village (read the article – organised by the Les Arcs European Film Festival and the Champs-Elysées Film Festival) has already produced tangible results, according to Cineuropa’s sources, including with French outfit Les Films d'Ici’s commitment to co-producing the German project In the Middle of the River. Initiated by Cologne-based Weydemann Bros, the second feature-length project by American director Damian John Harper, who is now established in Germany, is also being backed by Cine plus Film-produktion, Farbfilm Verleih and ZDF.

Rising to fame with his feature debut, Los Ángeles [+see also:

(unveiled at the Berlinale Forum in 2014), the filmmaker wrote the screenplay of his second opus himself. It plunges the viewer right to the heart of the serious difficulties faced by the Native American community through the character and family of a young Iraq War veteran. The film, which has an estimated budget of €2 million, is due to begin shooting in February 2015.

Les Films d'Ici have recently produced such titles as the documentary Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait by Ossama Mohammed (unveiled at a Special Screening at the last Cannes Festival), Gare du Nord [+see also:
