ended a few weeks ago with the producers' confirmation of its release in a two-part version, shortened in length and not seen by Von Trier himself (news), tackling the possibility of releasing the extended version sometime during 2014. Today, the 64th Berlin International Film Festival has announced that the long uncut version of Nymphomaniac Volume 1 will be part of their out of competition programme.

"Lars von Trier, a guest of the Berlinale for the first time in 1984, returns to the festival with this film. The aesthetic he has created in Nymphomaniac is impressive and radical," comments Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick. The Berlinale audience will be the first to see this version of the film. On the other hand, this does not concern the premiere of the long uncut version of Volume 2, yet to be announced.

Nymphomaniac, the wild and poetic story of a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac told in eight chapters, stars Charlotte Gainsbourg and newcomer Stacy Martin in the main role, alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe and many others. The shorter version, approved by Von Trier himself, will open worldwide in cinemas starting December 25, 2013.
