Four among the most critically acclaimed documentaries from 2013 are returning to Italian movie theatres with Wonder Pictures. Thanks to the new distribution project conceived by the director of Bologna Film Festival’s Biografilm, Andrea Romeo (read the interview), conceived at the end of August with the aim of better promoting international documentary filmmaking, The Act of Killing [+see also:

by Joshua Oppenheimer will once more be hitting the big screen. The film, which documents the genocide committed by soldiers in Indonesia in the 1970s, was the winner of the European Film Award and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards, and was also among Cineuropa’s top films for 2013 (read a list of the top 5). Screenings will take place in Rome on December 19-30 at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila.
