Director joins sales company: Kaurismäki is ready for Yellow Affair

was last year’s second-best grossing local release in Finland, from 264,830 admissions, has become a partner of the international sales company, Helsinki-Stockholm based The Yellow Affair, which has already included Finland’s Helsinki filmi and Sweden’s Anagram Productions among its ownership.

The Yellow Affair has handled international distribution of Kaurismäki’s Brothers (2011), Road North, his upcoming The Girl King [+see also:

, aka Kristina of Sweden – also Finnish director Arto Koskinen’s documentary, Litmanen-The King, portraying legendary footballer Jari Litmanen, which he produced.

“We have the same appreciation of films, and we enjoy working together. Kaurismäki is an experienced auteur director, whose knowledge of the film industry is an asset to our company and therefore we wanted to extend our collaboration,” explained managing director Miira Paasilinna, of The Yellow Affair.

“A long term and a closely-knit relationship between a sales company and a filmmaker is always beneficial for both sides,” added Kaurismäki, who is currently in pre-production with an updated version of US director Ruben Mamoulian’s Queen Christina (1933), which had Swedish screen legend Greta Garbo in the lead.

Operating since 2010, The Yellow Affair has specialised in edgy and high-quality art house product, including Swedish directors Gabriela Pichler’s Eat Sleep Die [+see also:
