Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani (pictured) last week started shooting their second feature film in Brussels. Three years ago, the two film directors confirmed their talent with their first feature Amer [+see also:

film profile], after a series of their fantastic short films screened at several international film festivals had raised hopes about them. Much sought-after by both specialised and generalist film festivals (the film notably won the Audience Award at the Festival du Nouveau cinéma in Montréal), Amer was even among Quentin Tarantino’s top 20 films for 2010, a story which in itself says a lot about the feature’s potential of becoming a cult film.

For their second opus, the directors will again make an aesthetic variation on a thriller. L’Etrange Couleur des Larmes de Ton Corps (lit. “The strange colour of your body’s tears”), is a new hommage to Italian film, to its baroque and flamboyant gialli. The film is a police investigation whose clues unravel around an Art Nouveau building, at the very heart of both the intrigue and the film. The directing team, at the moment settled in Brussels, a town rich in gems of Art Nouveau, will then film a few scenes in studio in Luxemburg, before finishing the eight weeks of filming in Nancy, where Art Nouveau is also very present.

We don’t know much more about these mysterious tears, except that they are produced by Eve Commenge for Anonymes Films, who has once again teamed up with the French from Tobina Film, as well as Epidemic, Flemish director Koen Mortier’s production company (Ex-Drummer [+see also:

film profile]) and Red Lion (Luxembourg). The film has received support from the CCA, the VAF, the Luxemburg Film Fund , Canal +, Ciné Plus, and the Lorraine region. Expected for spring 2013, the film will be sold by Bac Films.
