Cine-Regio money supports 22 films at Cannes 2011
by Cineuropa
Twenty-two films supported by members of Cine-Regio are screening in the official and sidebar sections at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. In other words, 22 films with strong ties to the European regions, which fulfils Cine-Regio’s aim of strengthening the identity of the European regions through film, as a medium of cultural unifying body. Charlotte Appelgren, General Secretary of Cine-Regio, said: “It is a highly interesting programme that the Cannes Film Festival has composed this year and it is also wonderful news that so many films in [its] sections have Cine-Regio money involved. For Cine-Regio, the members of Cine-Regio and the citizens in our regions, it is very encouraging and a great strength that money is put into films that offer high artistic value, explore new talent and stand for cinematic innovation.”
