Reel Suspects, a new French international sales company founded by Matteo Lovadina, will make its first appearance next week at the European Film Market of the 61st Berlinale (February 10-20, 2011). The company will present a market premiere of explosive Belgian director Koen Mortier’s 22nd of May [+see also:

film profile], which was unveiled at Toronto and screened this week in the Bright Future section at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

At Berlin, Reel Suspects will also launch sales for Laurent Bouhnik’s Q, currently in post-production. Piloted by Acajou Films and co-produced by Climax Productions, the latest feature by the director of Zonzon and 24 Hours in the Life of a Woman is described as an erotic tale centred on youth and freedom against the backdrop of the economic crisis.

Reels Suspects intends to focus its development on the market for genre and niche arthouse films by backing emerging talents. Its line-up also includes Santiago Sierra’s documentary No, Global Tour (selected in Forum Expanded at the 2011 Berlinale); Saulius Drunga’s Lithuanian/Hungarian co-production Anarchy in Zurminai; and psychological thriller project On the Border by Italian-born Berlin-based director Elisa Mishto.
