Taymor’s The Tempest to close Festival
Julie Taymor’s The Tempest, the latest cinematic adaptation of Shakespear’s masterpiece, on its 400th anniversary, will be the closing film (out of competition in world premiere) of the 67th Venice International Film Festival.
The predominantly British cast features Helen Mirren, Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, David Strathairn, Chris Cooper, Alan Cumming, Ben Whishaw, Reeve Carney and Felicity Jones.
Disributed by Touchstone Pictures and produed by Julie Taymor, Lynn Hendee, Robert Chartoff, Jason K. Lau and Julia Taylor-Stanley (see video interview), the film will be released in the US in December.
International sales are being handled by Icon Entertainment International.
