Almási scoops Kossuth Prize

Tamás Almási has received the Kossuth Prize, one of Hungary’s major artistic awards.

Born in 1948, the director has helmed around 20 documentary features, including The Real Puskas (focusing on Ferenc Puskás, footballer in the 1950s-60s and star of Real de Madrid), which won the Grand Prize in its category at the latest Hungarian Film Week. His filmography also includes two narrative features: Graduation (1980) and Mario the Magician (2008).

Another Kossuth Prize was awarded to DoP Sándor Kardos, who made his directorial debut in 2003 with the feature Winning Ticket and unveiled his latest work, The Gravedigger, at Hungarian Film Week 2010.
