Milcho Manchevski

Milcho Manchevski was born in Skopje (Macedonia) in 1959. He received a degree in film and photography from Southern Illinois University. His first feature film PRED DOŽDOT (BEFORE THE RAIN) won the Golden Lion in Venice in 1994. He has published stories and books of fiction, as well as two books of photographs. In addition to four feature films he has also directed one episode of HBO's THE WIRE, and has made around fifty shorts. His film MAJKI (MOTHERS) was screened in the Panorama section of the 2011 Berlinale. He has lived in New York since 1985. (Source : Berlin Film Festival)
