THE FLYER

by Revel Fox

synopsis

group of four young coloured men live off petty crime in the infamous streets of Cape Town Kier, the most skilful and agile operator, is in charge of more major theft. His speciality is getting into high-rise apartments that are difficult to access. One day they steal a suitcase belonging to a trapeze artist, Anders, who, whilst pursuing Kier, has time to notice his agility before the latter manages to escape. Next day, he comes across the young man again and this time manages to catch him. He takes him off the streets, brings him into his own home, and trains him on the trapeze. A new world is thus opened to Kier; in the air, he discovers a passion that, despite this exacting discipline’s demands, and the return of his former friends, will change his life forever.
