MY SUMMER WITH IRÈNE
by Carlo Sironi
synopsis
Italy, 1997. Clara and Irène, both 17 years old, meet at a summer camp organised by the hospital where they are being treated. Clara is shy while Irène is untamed. They are completely unalike but they understand each other straight away. Instead of returning to their families, they decide to run away to a faraway island off the coast of Sicily to spend their first summer as young women. There, they live in a carefree way, dream of love, record their moments together on VHS tape and confront their fears about the future.
